A compilation of sample standard forms used in the 19th Century

During the early period of instrumented weather observations (the 1800s), the types of information gathered evolved over time as instrumentation, needs of the collecting organizations and use of the data, and recognition of data quality issues evolved. These factors resulted in significant evolution in the forms used by the observers to report the daily weather data to the collecting organizations. Some of the forms included instructions to the observers. This search tool provides access to the information about daily weather observations contained on example forms for several collecting organizations. The example forms may be accessed by searches on collecting organization, date, weather element recorded on the form, or observing instructions included on the form. Some stations may have continued to use their supply of an old form past the official end date for that form.
