The U.S. Naval Observatory    The United States Naval Observatory (USNO) provides a wide range of astronomical data and products, and serves as the official source of time for the U.S. Department of Defense and a standard of time for the entire United States. It is the preeminent authority in the areas of time keeping and celestial observing, and determining and distributing the timing and astronomical data required for accurate navigation and fundamental astronomy. Here you can determine sunrise or sunset for any location in the country or find out when the phases of the moon will occur at any point in the future. NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center   The Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) is the nation's official source of space weather alerts, watches and warnings. SWPC provides real-time monitoring and forecasting of solar and geophysical events which impact satellites, power grids, communications, navigation, and many other technological systems. The Space Weather Enthusiests Dashboard page has the latest readings of solar wind, solar images, auroral map, and a chart of the solar cycle.

U.S. National Lightning Detection Network    The U.S. National Lightning Detection Network (NLDN) monitors cloud-to-ground lightning activity across the continental United States, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Data from this network is used by the National Weather Service, and those in aviation, forestry, electric power utilities, and many other users. The NLDN is operated by Vaisala, Inc.

The Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) and its partners conduct innovative research on the dynamic environments and ecosystems of the Great Lakes to inform resource use and management decisions. GLERL collects data and conducts research and in a variety of areas including weather and climate, lake levels, chemistry of sediments, lake biology, and even archeology.

USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service    The mission of the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) is to provide timely, accurate, and useful statistics in service to U. S. agriculture. Statistics and information are available for virtually every major crop grown in the U.S. The NASS site contains links to individual state offices which provide more specific information on agriculture in their respective states.

The Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network    The Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network (CoCoRaHS) is a non-profit, community-based network of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds working together to measure and map precipitation (rain, hail and snow). More than 15,000 volunteers participate and observations they make are used by the National Weather Service, water managers, emergency managers, and a wide array of other users.

NRCS National Water and Climate Center    The National Resources Conservation Service National Water and Climate Center (NWCC) is a source for spatial snow, water, climate, and hydrologic network of information and technology. The NWCC maintains coordination of the SNOTEL network in the western U.S., makes water supply forecasts, and in general supports natural resource conservation efforts.

National Phenology Network    Phenology refers to key seasonal changes in plants and animals from year to year, especially related to weather and climate. The National Phenology Network (NPN) brings together citizen scientists, government agencies, non-profit groups, educators and students of all ages to monitor the impacts of climate change on plants and animals in the United States.

National Atmospheric Deposition Program    The National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP) is a cooperative effort between federal, state, tribal and local governmental agencies, educational institutions, private companies, and non-governmental agencies to measure atmospheric deposition and study its effects on the environment. The NADP National Trends Network (NTN) measures precipitation chemistry at 250 sites in the U.S.

U.S. Geological Survey WaterWatch    This web site displays maps, graphs, and tables describing real-time, recent, and past streamflow conditions for the United States. The real-time information generally is updated on an hourly basis. WaterWatch provides streamgage-based maps that show the location of more than 3,000 long-term (30 years or more) USGS streamgages. In addition, there are summaries of streamflow conditions in a region (state or hydrologic unit) in terms of the long-term typical condition at streamgages in the region.
